Everything you need to know about registering for CSEC January 2026
đ CSEC January 2026 Registration
The January 2026 sitting of the CXC-CSEC Examinations is now open. Candidates must register for subjects via the Online Registration portal.
Alternative Paper to the SBA
Private candidates registering for the Alternative Paper to the SBA, in subjects where that is possible, are advised that, in each case, they will be required to sit Papers 1 and 2 as well as Paper 3/2, which is the Alternative Paper to the SBA.
RESIT Information
If the candidate intends to re-use or "carry forward" SBA score(s), then they must indicate "RESIT" and give their May/June 2024/2025 registration number where required.
SBA Score Re-use Policy
SBA scores can now be re-used twice for up to a maximum of 2 years immediately following the first sitting as of June 2024 exams.
Subject Changes
There is a cost to make changes to subjects and/or personal data after entries have been submitted to CXC.
SBA Transfers
Information about transferring SBA scores between subjects
đ SBA Transfer Rules
Candidates can transfer SBA from one subject to another within specific subject groups:
Business Cognate Subjects
- Principles of Accounts
- Principles of Business
- Economics
English Subjects
The above transfer situation also applies to English A and English B if both subjects are registered in the same examination period.
Example
A candidate who sat Principles of Business (POB) in 2024 or 2025 can transfer the SBA from the previous sitting to Principles of Accounts (POA) in January 2026.
Transfer Requirements
To transfer SBA scores, candidates must clearly indicate the transfer request during registration and provide the necessary documentation from their previous examination sitting.

Candidates requesting Special Assessment arrangements for the following services MUST submit an Assessment/Evaluation Report immediately upon registration:
- Braille
- Enlarged Scripts
- Extra Time
- Reader/Writer assistance
- Other special accommodations
Administrative Fee
Please note that there is an applicable administrative fee of $3,960.00 per candidate.

Spanish Oral Examinations
Special information for Spanish candidates
đŖī¸ Spanish Examination Information
Candidates who wish to register for Spanish are advised that the examinations for all papers are available in KINGSTON and MONTEGO BAY only.
Oral Examination Schedule
Spanish oral examinations will be held at the OEC towards the latter part of December 2025.
Notification Process
All candidates registered for Spanish will receive an email or call with the specific date and time for the Oral exam.
Location Restriction
Please note that Spanish examinations are only available in Kingston and Montego Bay. Plan your registration accordingly.

Timetables
Please be aware that Timetables will be made available by December 22, 2025. You should visit or contact the Overseas Examinations Commission as a matter of urgency if you do not receive a timetable by this time.
Alternative Access
You will still be able to write your examination(s) even if you did not receive your timetable. The OEC will provide a duplicate Timetable confirming your registration details. You can visit the CXC's website through the Student Portal: http://ors.cxc.org/studentportal to confirm the date of the examination(s) for which you are registered.

đ Identification Requirements
Candidates must provide appropriate identification in order to be allowed to write examinations offered by the Overseas Examinations Commission.
Acceptable Forms of Identification
- Passport
- Electoral I.D.
- Driver's Licence
- School I.D. (with special requirements)
School ID Requirements
If using your School ID, school uniform must be worn to the examination.
Important Note
No candidate will be allowed to sit examinations without proper identification. Ensure your ID is valid and current.
Withdrawals & Refunds
Policy on withdrawals and refunds for registered candidates
đ¸ Withdrawal & Refund Policy
Candidates should think carefully before registering for the examinations as entries are not transferable across sittings.
Withdrawal Requirements
Withdrawals/refunds will only be entertained if the candidate:
- Applies within 14 calendar days after registration closes on October 15, 2025
- Provides a good reason why they are unable to sit the examination
Processing Timeline
Refunds are only dealt with after all entry processes have been completed. Usually this process can take between 6-8 weeks.
Processing Fee
Additionally, a processing fee of $1,310.00 will be deducted from any approved refund.
Important Considerations
Before registering, carefully consider your commitment to taking the examinations, as the withdrawal policy is strict and fees are non-refundable outside the specified timeframe.

Registration Information
How to Register: Use the Online Registration Portal
Alternative Paper to SBA: Private candidates must sit Papers 1, 2, and Paper 3/2 (Alternative to SBA).
Resit Candidates: Indicate "RESIT" and provide your May/June 2024/2025 registration number to carry forward SBA scores.
SBA Transfers
SBA scores can be transferred between subjects in the Business Cognate group (Principles of Accounts, Principles of Business, and Economics).
SBA transfers also apply between English A and English B if both are registered in the same examination period.
Example: A candidate who sat POB in 2024/2025 can transfer the SBA score to POA in January 2026.
