On Friday, July 17, 2026, Mrs Maryah Ho-Young, Deputy Chief Education Officer, Examinations and Assessment Administration Services, Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, hosted a Zoom meeting to brief centres on the implementation of the School-Based Assessment (SBA) Reform.

Dr Nicole Manning, Director of Operations at the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC), delivered a presentation outlining the changes to the administration of School-Based Assessments (SBAs) and the phased transition to Paper 032 for applicable CSEC and CAPE subjects.

The presentation explained that there will be no SBA in non-practical subjects. Candidates in non-practical subjects will complete Paper 032 as the alternative assessment. The changes will be introduced for CAPE subjects in 2027. The change will come into effect for CSEC subjects in 2028. However, the schools may opt to implement it as of 2027.
